Using the Maths Fundi Study Guides and Workbooks for the 3rd year now, my Grade 6s and 7s are excelling. Class averages are rising, and a deeper understanding, higher levels of critical thinking, and more efficient problem solving skills are developing.

The 2nd edition has brought even more value to these resources.

As an academic in Engineering, I can see how Maths Fundi helps to develop understanding by breaking down problems, going back to concrete and simpler steps.

Maths Fundi makes it so much easier for me to support my children in their learning of new concepts. My daughter found this extremely useful, and I see now that it benefitted her tremendously in the various Mathematics competitions.

There are other Maths textbooks and support books available in shops which are not as good; I find Maths Fundi a much more understandable and useful resource.

I am in my 24th year of teaching and responsible for Grades 4 to 7 Maths at my school. I have tried and tested many different Maths programmes and never found a single resource that covered everything, before discovering Maths Fundi. It got me excited all over again to open Maths to all: from the fast, gifted learner to those who find it very challenging. The core principle exercises and mixed bag problem solving questions are separated, so that the more advanced learners can solve the problems at the end of each chapter, while the others have time to master the basics. The questions vary in such a way that parrot-work is avoided, and that critical thinking is developed. The experience in the classroom by both authors is a clear reason for the brilliant success of this programme, which I recommend with all my heart: the best available for teaching and learning Maths existing at the moment.

The Maths Fundi Study Guides, Workbooks and Answer Books are highly recommended and should be in every learner’s desk at school. A beneficial purchase for every teacher and learner; they cover all CAPS requirements and more. The material is clearly presented and the books are user-friendly.

The Guides have quick and easy access to concepts of which they may be unsure, or can be used to revise when preparing for a test. Examples are simple and easy to understand. Clear illustrations help visual learners.

Workbooks provide extension exercises to stretch the faster workers and offer ample consolidation exercises for your everyday classroom activities.

I love using the Maths Fundi Study Guide and Workbook with my Grade 4 class. The books are easy to use and thoroughly cover all concepts required by CAPS. More than that, they extend the learners to think critically and in practical ways. The development of concepts makes sense and allows the girls to really understand and consolidate what they are learning. The programme provides much-needed flow between our Senior Primary grades. As a teacher it is a dream to do my planning using this programme as everything is so well laid out and easy to follow.

As a first-year educator, teaching Mathematics can be daunting. You want to ensure that you are providing your learners with accurate skills and foundations. Maths Fundi provides and prepares learners to learn and develop their skills, ensuring that they are prepared going into the next grade. I do not fear providing my learners with accurate skills because the Maths Fundi books deliver that service. These books are excellent – they provide explanations on each section and teach learners various methods. The book has everything you need as an educator to teach your learners Mathematics. I commend the authors on their brilliant books.

Working with the Maths Fundi Study Guides and workbooks has helped me, as an experienced teacher, to approach lessons with greater enthusiasm, knowing that all the concepts are covered thoroughly. Both teachers and learners benefit from a clearly structured approach to the curriculum, where nothing is left to chance in growing an understanding and love for Mathematics.

My daughter had to move schools half way through her Grade 7 year. She had experienced 3 months in the classroom, and 3 months online learning using Maths Fundi. When she transitioned to her new school, she independently opted to continue using the Fundi Study Guide as her primary resource, to help her learn and revise sections. She used Fundi for all her revision and would take lessons presented in class and look them up ‘The Fundi Way’. In spite of the change and the fact that sections had been completed in a different order, she finished the year well and has never felt more confident in herself. She even set personal goals to stay a chapter ahead, so she learnt ‘The Fundi Way’ before she was taught a new section. We are so grateful for the careful planning, sound teaching and extension offered by this material. As a Maths teacher I highly recommend that parents teach their children to use these guides as study material, even if the school is using a different curriculum. They teach Maths concepts and language so it makes sense! A worthwhile investment for your bookshelves.

Correct teaching in primary school means less time taken to ‘unteach’ incorrect teaching in high school.

What a valuable reference for use at home!

Having taught Senior Primary Mathematics for over 40 years, I strongly recommend use of the Maths Fundi products. I am sure that the material contained in these books will greatly enhance the learning and teaching of Mathematics for learners, teachers and parents alike.

My daughter was a top student until Grade 4, when unfortunately there was a personality clash between her and her teacher and she started shutting down. She fell further and further behind, her confidence completely eroded, and she believed she couldn’t do Maths. I decided to home-school her during her Grade 6 year. We started working with the Maths Fundi Guide. All of a sudden she started to flourish, with the realisation that she is not stupid, just missing concepts. I’m seeing her blossom in front of me, no longer petrified of Maths.

I bought the Maths Fundi books for my son last year when he was in Grade 5. It has made my life so easy, as I am now able to help my son with his Maths. His Maths grade before was in the 40s, but his marks have gone up to the 70s.
